International Women’s Day: An interview with a tough lady in logistics

1. Who are you?

Hello, I am Maud, I work for the company Fournie Transports et Logistique, a member of the Eychenne group, in the logistics department for the last 3 ½ years. I manage the warehouse in partnership with Fabien. For 1 year now, we have been storing CC Containers for Container Centralen, I am in charge of stock management, preparation of orders, exchanges with customers, reception of rolls and shipping of broken ones.

2. The world of logistics employs mainly men, what is it like to work in this sector as a woman?

It’s a pretty tough and physical job when you’re out in the field, but it’s an exciting job with a lot of unforeseen challenges every day. For my part, as a woman, I have had no trouble integrating and imposing myself in this field for 15 years now, I have been managing teams for 14 years, having learned the job at the time. I was therefore allowed to prove myself and take my place in logistics very easily, even though I was only surrounded by men.

3. Which powerful woman do you admire the most?

There are two, Simone Veil and Angela Merkel.

4. What are you most proud of doing?

Teaching my knowledge to the young and not so young people who are hired or who come for an internship.

5. What is the most important message you want to send to young women who are thinking about their careers?

That they follow their ideas, their desires for jobs, that they don’t worry about “this is not a job for a woman”, that they impose themselves in what they like.
